Dr. Victor, one of eight children, grew up predominantly in South Carolina and California. He graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Biology and as a scholar athlete. He attended The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, graduating in 1984 with awards including Outstanding Student in Surgery. Dr. Victor completed his surgical internship and residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston in 1991.
During residency, he was awarded a national grant as a surgical research fellow in gastrointestinal physiology and published several original articles and book chapters and presented at national meetings. Following residency training, he practiced in the Piedmont Triangle area in North Carolina before moving to Austin in 1993.
Dr. Victor’s areas of expertise include endocrine surgery (parathyroid, thyroid, and adrenal gland), a wide variety of laparoscopic surgeries (including for gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, achalasia, benign and malignant small intestine and colon conditions, and hernias), breast, hernia, and colon surgery.
He has been selected as a Super Doctors by Texas Monthly Magazine for over 20 years including Hall of Fame recognition, as an Austin Top Doctor by Austin Monthly Magazine, and given Top Doctor status by US News & World Report and Castle Connolly and listed in Who’s Who of American Surgery. He also won Surgeon of the Year by the Association of Operating Room Nurses Austin Chapter. Dr. Victor has served on a number of Austin area hospital and ambulatory surgery center committees.
Dr. Victor is defined by a steadfast and heartfelt dedication and respect towards his patients, the privilege of working with his partners, and the love of family.
Outside of surgery, Dr. Victor enjoys a good movie, book or sporting event, spending time with family, and a variety of outdoor sports including running, cycling, hiking, fishing, and grandchildren games.
