During a colonoscopy, your physician will examine the lining of your large intestine using a flexible tube attached to a camera called a colonoscope. If growths or other abnormalities are found, the physician may remove or biopsy these abnormal sites for further evaluation by a pathologist. Since you will be sedated, you must arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home.
